Buratai issues a warning to troops over human rights violation

Buratai gave the warning while addressing officers and soldiers at the headquarters of 82 Division of Nigeria Army in Enugu on Friday.

He charged troops involved in internal security operations to confine themselves to the provision of the law at all times.

According to Buratai, any erring personnel would be decisively dealt with in accordance with the relevant military and civil laws.

“Our rules of engagement during security operations touch on the observation of human rights at all times.

“You must behave professionally, protect lives and uphold the dignity of humans during all your operations.

“If you apply all the rules of engagement and still have cause to open fire as a last resort, then you will be protected by the Constitution.

“We will however not tolerate or protect anyone who in the course of any operation violates such provisions of the constitution’’, he said.

Buratai assured officers and soldiers of the present administration’s commitment to improve infrastructure in the barracks.

He also said steps had been taken to improve the standard of educational and health facilities in the barracks nationwide.

The chief of army staff enjoined personnel of the division to sustain the efforts that had ensured peace and security of lives and property in states under it.

Burata, if you are sincere with your stated professional ethics and moral codes of conduct, then prove your worth by investigating and arresting your criminals who shoot and killed unarmed civilian protesters, and charged them with Marshall laws. And you also arrest those of your hungry criminals who are harassing and extorting money from Vendors for publishing Biafran stories. You need to put a leash on those animals at ABA to stop behaving like ancient spare carrying bush warriors
