CAF unveils new official ball for Angola 2010 today

The ceremony will take place at 11:00a.m Cairo local time at the CAF Headquarters in 6th of October city. The new ball will replace the current ball, which appeared for the first time at the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana 2008.

Wawa Aba was the first official ball designed for CAF to reflect the African culture. The colourful ball made a huge impression over the past two years as a result of its revolutionary image. The new ball will replace the Wawa Aba starting from the year 2010 and the Orange Africa Cup of Nations will be the first official CAF competition where the ball will make its appearance.

Meanwhile, the losing finalist in this year’s Orange Africa Confederations Cup, Entente Setif of Algeria, has ended the year in style after wining the Union of North African Football Association (UNAF) Champions competition. Setif won the trophy in Tunis at the detriment of Esperance after post-match penalties (6-5), following the second leg match that ended in a tie. The away leg match had ended 1-1.

In the other finals played on Sunday, counting for the Cup Winners Cup category, Club Sportif Sfaxien took home the trophy thanks to the away goal rule as the first leg ended 1-1. For the participating teams, it was a worthwhile experience, with the winner of the Champions Cup taking home $150,000 while the runner-up is given $75,000 as consolation. The third and fourth placed teams got $35,000 each.

In the Cup Winners Cup, the winners took home $100,000, with $50,000 going to the other finalist. All teams taking part in the two competitions take home $15,000 for each match played.
