As ex-APGA legal adviser urges Anambra electorate to support LP

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has replied the state Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Festus Onyekwulisi, on his comment that the party is ready to unseat him through the polls.

In a statement, at the weekend, by the governor’s Special Adviser on Public Communications, Collins Ughalaa, the governor fired back at Onyekwulisi and LP, accusing the party of not being rooted in democracy in the state.

The governor, also, stressed that the party is on a journey of futility, maintaining that LP is riddled with crisis of undemocratic structure, which brings to question the authentic leader of the party in the state. Uzodimma said that LP should first remove the log in its eyes before talking about unseating him at the November governorship election in the state.

Onyekwulisi had addressed a press briefing at the weekend, noting that the party is positioned to unseat Uzodimma via the ballot, regretting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the state had plunged citizens and residents into untold hardship since January 15, 2020, when it was enthroned through the pronouncement of the Supreme Court, which sacked Emeka Ihedioha as the state
governor.

In another development, a former interim Anambra State Chief Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Emmanuel Okechukwu Jnr. has called on Anambra electorate to intensify support for the LP to enhance its national spread.

Okechukwu, who believes that Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, won the February 25 presidential election, urged the electorate in the state to vote LP candidates in the forthcoming March 18 state Assembly elections, saying it would help to stabilise the party at the grassroots level.

In a statement, yesterday, in Awka, on the controversy surrounding the February 25 presidential election, Okechukwu advised that people should ignore what played out during the presidential/National Assembly elections and look unto the future.

He said: “With the impressive performance of LP at the February 25 elections, I call on the Anambra electorate to support the party.”
