Ends Free Ramadan Iftar Feeding in FCT
The leadership of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) has urged political appointees in the current administration to ensure that members of the support groups that backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are carried along in government appointments and patronage.
TSG also acknowledged that not all supporters could be accommodated in government positions due to the limited number of available appointments.
Founded in 2020 to mobilise support for Tinubu, TSG played a key role in the 2023 presidential campaign and election.
Speaking at the grand finale of TSG’s free Ramadan feeding programme and interfaith breaking of fast in Abuja on Monday, the group’s Director-General, Umar Tanko Yakasai, said the organisation’s founder, James Faleke, had ensured that many members of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) and other supporters were recognised and rewarded with appointments across federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
He added that the process of rewarding loyal members continues.
“One thing we must remember is that not everyone can be appointed due to the limited positions available in government.
Those who have been appointed should do everything possible to carry as many members of the support groups along, ensuring patronage and mutual support while also reinforcing the President’s efforts to reward party faithfuls,” Yakasai said.
The event attracted support group leaders, Muslim and Christian faithful, party leaders at all levels, government appointees, and women and youth leaders, alongside hundreds of supporters.
Highlighting Faleke’s contributions, Yakasai noted that since the start of Ramadan, the TSG founder had supported the daily free distribution of iftar meals and drinks across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to help people observing Ramadan and Lent break their fast.
“This generous initiative has enabled many who could not afford food to break their fast with dignity and honour. May Allah bless him and reward him abundantly,” he said.
Other party leaders at the gathering urged Nigerians to rally behind the current administration and to reject tribalism and religious bias.
Speaking at the event, a former member of the House of Representatives from Delta State, Mercy Almona-Isei, said the overlap of Ramadan and Lenten fasting periods between Muslims and Christians offered Nigerians a lesson in unity.
“Without unity and peace, national progress is impossible. Despite global challenges, we now have a leader who is focused, strong, and determined to achieve what others could not. That is the essence of Renewed Hope,” she said.
Almona-Isei called on Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu, stressing that collective backing would enable him to further advance national development.
