The club disclosed this while felicitating with Ilupeju senior secondary school, Lagos, on this year’s Children’s Day celebration.

Chairperson for Lion Service for Children, Dr. Adesola Falaye, noted that the purpose of the celebration was to give the children a sense of belonging, encouraging them that the future is bright once they are hard-working, have integrity and perseverance they can actually achieve a lot.

“We are celebrating them and preparing them for the future, getting them to be focused, that they shouldn’t be distracted, they should be good citizens and leaders in future,” she said.

The district governor of the club, Aare Lekan Owolabi said the club is using the occasion to mentor the young ones.

Also, the chairperson of the occasion and Associate Professor in the Department of Actuarial Science and Insurance, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Folake Olowokudejo, who spoke on the topic, ‘More money for primary education’, encouraged students to make the best of the opportunity that is presented to them, reminding them that they are the future of the nation.

“We are mindful of the situation they are in and we are doing our best on our part to see that with God they will be great in future,” she added.

The celebration had Ilupeju Junior and Senior Secondary School, Ilupeju Junior and Senior Grammar School and Estate Junior and Secondary School engaged in series of activities, such as a debate competition, and spelling bees competition among others.
