The Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, on Friday urged Nigerians to promote peace, especially during the Yuletide.

Okoh made the call while speaking with newsmen at the Cathedral Church of Advent, Life Camp, Abuja.

The primate urged Nigerians to cooperate with security agents to ease their work while promoting peace in the country.

“ This is a call for all Nigerians to work for the peace of the country against the background of insecurity that has been plaguing our lives in the past years.

“ If we put our hands together, this can lead to the success of the operations of the security agents so that every one of us can enjoy peace.

“Security should not be left in the hands of a few individuals called security people, we are all security people in our own right,’’ he said.
He urged Christians to reflect on the reason for the Christmas.

“The essence of Christmas is that God denied himself of everything and came down to be with human beings.

“There is need for people to step down from their pinnacle and reach out to ordinary people for them to feel the impact of the season.
“We should not exhibit pride in our society; it breeds evil.

‘There are many people who are high up there and do not relate with the poor; this not good enough,’’ Okoh said.

Also speaking on the Yuletide, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, advised Christians to go beyond the Christmas celebrations and touch lives.

“We should go beyond the merry making of the birthday of Jesus to the root of the meaning of Christmas.

“We need to let people know that when we or they get a bit dejected, worried, uncertain and impatient, God is with us.

“ We should have good disposition toward our neighbours; if we are disposed toward building a good relationship, our world will be better,’’ he said.

Onaiyekan also urged Christians to live upright for God to uplift them
