
Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), held its 55th anniversary in a grand style, they used the occasion to advise the civil servants to look beyond the service and save for the future.

It said that there is a need for civil servants to engage in some business investments that would give them retirement benefits.
Experienced and Seasoned Leader, Chizoba Mojekwu, disclosed this in Abuja, at the Institute’s 55th anniversary and 55th International Conference and Exhibition, with the theme: Sustainable HR Business and National Development.
She said: “So, the traditional view of retirement is that you stopped working at a certain age. So you work for a fixed number of years or you work up to a certain age and you leave paid employment and transition into a life of leisure.
“And so you find that financial independence and flexible retirement planning is very critical to when we eventually retire. And so more options are being available to us like face retirement, deferring that retirement and then an option of a second careers.

“So, for those of you within two and five years to retirement, please add another 10 years to your retirement plan. For you to be able to do the financial plans that you require. Because when you retire, you simply have something to retire to.”
In his part, the President and Chairman of Council, CIPM, Olusegun Mojeed, noted that the Human Resources (HR) is charged with the responsibility of shaping a progressive organizations and nation.
He noted that the conference seeks to provide cutting edge solutions for people managers and leaders to navigate the changing times and build sustainable HR practices with the end goal being business and national development.
He said: “Sustainable people practice is a strong catalyst for cultural, national, and infrastructural development, among others. Talent supply will play a major role in creating and shaping the conditions in which organizations and nations will operate.”
Also, Director of the Talent and Succession Management Solutions, Adebayo Akinloye, said: “Talent engagement is part of human resources functions, so, there is a need to recruit the right people, develop the right people, and also make sure to engage the right people.”
