CIPM recommits to advancing professional excellence

Chartered Institute of Personnel Management

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing professional excellence and strengthening Human Resource capacity development.

Chairperson of Rivers State Branch of the CIPM, Catherine Kadri, stated this while announcing plans for its 27th annual state conference, with a focus on addressing changing workplace realities and strategies for building agile and sustainable organisations.

The conference, themed, ‘Work, Workforce & Workplace: Driving Agile and Sustainable Organizations,’  is scheduled to hold as a hybrid event in Port Harcourt, bringing together Human Resource (HR) professionals, business leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, administrators and industry stakeholders.

The institute said the conference is designed to provide a platform for examining emerging trends shaping the future of work, while equipping organisations with strategies to remain resilient and competitive amid evolving economic and workplace demands.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Kadri said the annual gathering would deepen knowledge-sharing, encourage strategic engagement and foster practical conversations around workplace transformation.

According to the institute, the conference seeks to provide professionals and business leaders with insights that will help organisations adapt to rapid shifts in workforce expectations, workplace culture and operational sustainability.

It urged HR professionals, executives, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to participate, noting that this year’s edition has been structured to deliver greater impact and value than previous conferences.

The organisers disclosed that over 240 HR professionals attended the previous edition, which featured key personalities, including Adeyemi Ajayi, an elected council member of CIPM; Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi; immediate past Chairman of the Rivers State Branch, Godswill Eke; former Vice President of CIPM, Henry Unuakpor; and Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Patrick Ekadi, among others.

The conference is expected to attract professionals across sectors to connect, share ideas and contribute to discussions on the future of work and organisational sustainability.

While the virtual sessions will be held on July 8 and 9, 2026, the physical conference is scheduled for July 10, 2026, at Celebra8 Centre, Olu Obasanjo Road, Port Harcourt.

The institute added that registration is ongoing, encouraging professionals, partners and sponsors within the personnel and business management ecosystem to participate in this year’s conference.
