Three clergymen in Kaduna State and a 62 year- old mother of Edo State lawmaker were abducted during the week

The 62 year- old mother of the Edo lawmaker, Abibat Adjoto was reportedly abducted from her residence at Ikakumo village in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area,

According to reports, Mrs Adjoto, mother of three time lawmaker representing Akoko-Edo Constituency 1, Kabiru Adjoto, was abducted with one of her adopted sons, whose name could not be verified as at press time.

Sources said the suspected kidnappers invaded Ikakumo at about 1am on Thursday and shot sporadically for about two hours to apparently scare away the villagers.

The lawmaker refused to comment on the abduction of his mother, but a source said the kidnappers beat their victims before they forcefully took them away.

“They came to our village and started shooting. They took mama away and one of her sons.”

One of the clergy men abducted in Kaduna is the president of Tarayyar Ekklesiyoyin Kristi A Nijerriya (TEKAN), Revered Emmanuel Dziggau.

The group has called on government and security operatives to do everything possible to ensure the safety of their leaders.

Addressing a press conference in Jos, TEKAN General Secretary, Reverend Moses Ebuga said the entire following of churches of Christ in Nigeria received with shock the sudden kidnap of the TEKAN president and the TEKAN/ECWA bloc leader in the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Illiya Anto, TEKAN Vice President and Rev. Yakubu Dzarma (rtd) in Kaduna state.

“We are not ignorant of the recent scheming against the Nigerian church with regard to the upcoming CAN National election, where the leaders have become the subject of attack, particularly the leadership of TEKAN/ECWA bloc in CAN.
