Cleric Tasks Govt On Educational System, Digital Learning

EDUCATION-textA retired Bishop of the Anglican Communion, Ifo Diocese, Rt. Rev. Akin Odejide, has urged government to revert to the 6-3-3-4 educational system, saying it was a hybrid of the best educational systems in the world.

The cleric who also called for digital learning to be introduced in public schools, disclosed that the current 9-3-4 educational system in use replaced the 6-3-3-4 system in 2012.

Speaking at the inter-house sports competition of Janet Memorial Schools, Idimu, Lagos, Odejide, who retired as a director in the Lagos State Ministry of Education, said the former system comprised the British, Swedish, American and Nigerian curriculum and aimed at making pupils choose a career path early in life.
“Those who proposed the 6-3-3-4 system like the late Babatunde Fafunwa had a good vision for the education sector, but the only challenge was implementation.
