Club empowers youths with free computer training

In a bid to bridge the digital divide, the NGChuck Lions Club, Anthony Village has provided free computer training for youths in Anthony village.
The initiative, which has become the club’s yearly signature project, seeks to equip participants with vital information technology skills to compete in today’s digital world.

Club President, Chima Anyanwu, explained that the programme has evolved over the years.
“This is our signature project. We normally do it every year. The first two years were focused on the basics of computer training, last year was on graphic design, and this year we are teaching web design,” he said.

Immediate Past President, Ekene Ajiri-uwuseba, recalled that the programme was introduced in 2021 by the club’s charter president to productively engage young people, especially during the holiday period.

Also speaking, Felicia Obilo encouraged participants to maximise the opportunity, stressing that the knowledge gained would remain relevant throughout their lives.

“They have been given life skills. They have been taught how to fish, and now they should go ahead and fish. This will make them more employable and better prepared for the future,” she said.
