The Borno State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has directed police operatives to investigate the deaths of three children who were reportedly found dead under suspicious circumstances in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Borno Police Command’s spokesperson, Nahum Kenneth Daso.
According to Daso, one Baba Zannah Jaridama and his neighbour, Muhammad Buka, who are both residents of Annari Ali Ngoshe Area, Mafa Local Government Area of the state, reported the case of three missing children at the Kaleri Police Post on Tuesday.
The police spokesperson added that Jaridama returned the following day to report that the corpses of the missing children were discovered inside his Honda Civic car, where it was parked.
Jaridama identified the children as a three-year-old boy, Anwar Baba Zannah, Mama Baba Zannah, an infant, and five-year-old Ahmed Muhammad.
“Police operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene and evacuated the victims to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), where a medical doctor confirmed them dead. The corpses have since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy,” said Daso.
He added that the state’s Commissioner of Police, who has ordered an investigation into the death of three children, commiserated with the family of the children and assured them that the outcome of the investigation will be communicated.
