A prominent community and political leader, Damajai Da Daniel Bulle, has been killed in a fresh attack by suspected gunmen in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, further heightening concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the area.

Bulle, a native of Nagunda community, was reportedly ambushed and shot dead on Sunday evening along the Barkin Ladi–Kufang (Gana Ropp) Road while returning home.
The latest killing has thrown residents of Kufang (Gana Ropp) and neighbouring communities into mourning, with many describing it as another grim reminder of the persistent violence that has plagued the area.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the spokesman of the Barkin Ladi community, Hon. Stephen Choji Kim, said the attack underscored the growing insecurity confronting residents, who, according to him, now live in constant fear.

He lamented that repeated attacks had made it increasingly unsafe for people to travel, farm or carry out other legitimate economic activities within their ancestral communities.
“Honestly, if drastic action is not taken by the government and the people to reverse this ugly trend of insecurity, it will consume everyone without exception,” Kim said.

He warned that no resident should assume they were safe, stressing that armed attackers had effectively taken control of farmlands and other rural areas.

“No one should think he or she is safe, as locals can no longer farm or conduct business freely in their ancestral homes and lands, which the enemies have taken over,” he stated.
Kim appealed to the Federal Government, the Plateau State Government and security agencies to urgently strengthen security across Barkin Ladi and other vulnerable communities to prevent further loss of lives.

The killing adds to a series of violent attacks that have continued to unsettle communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area despite repeated security interventions.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the Plateau State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, did not respond to telephone calls or text messages as of the time this report was filed.
