Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has described the late Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Adeleke Idowu-Basibo, as a dependable, reliable, and quintessential monarch.
Abiodun stated this during a condolence visit to the palace of the Alaperu at the weekend.

The governor, who described the death of the monarch as a personal loss and a significant loss to the entirety of Iperu and Remoland, said it is a void that would take several years to fill.

He, however, acknowledged the contributions of the late monarch, who retired from the Customs to serve his people, noting that Oba Idowu-Basibo brought all his networks of goodwill into developing the town of Iperu.

He noted that the late monarch, whose official appointment letter was dated February 6, 2002, was also called home by God on February 6, 2025.

Earlier, the Lisa of Iperu, Rotimi Odubona, thanked the governor for his support to the family, even as he urged him to help the town and the family by ensuring that the monarch is buried without any delay.

Meanwhile, the Iperu-Akesan-land community has described the death of the monarch as “jolting.”

In a letter of commiseration, Sir (Dr) Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu expressed his condolences to the Basibo family, the Iperu-Akesan-land in Council, the ruling houses, and all the sons and daughters of Iperu-Akesan-Land.

According to a letter signed by Adebutu and made available to The Guardian, the late Oba Idowu-Basibo was praised for his commitment to promoting the cause of Iperu-Akesan-Land and his dedication to serving his people. His life was described as a testament to character, compassion, and tireless service to his fatherland.
