National Chairman, Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Adewale Oladigbolu, has called for the signing of new Pharmacy Bill and full inclusion of professionals into the nation’s healthcare system.

He made the appeal at the ongoing 41st yearly Scientific Conference of ACPN in Lagos, tagged Ajumose Eko. The theme is Never Waste a Crisis: Community Pharmacists Learning for Future Preparedness.
  
Oladigbolu said assenting to the piece of legislation and including community pharmacists would engender a healthier nation.
  
On his part, chairman of the occasion and member representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, Gboluga Ikengboju, expressed the legislature’s support for the association in creditably discharging its roles for a better society.

Also speaking, National President, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, (PSN), Prof. Cyril Usifoh, lauded community pharmacists for being at the forefront of providing direct healthcare to patients during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Besides, Executive Director and CEO of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, said the bulk of the country’s challenges was at the community level where a larger part of the population is misinformed, thereby making people more vulnerable to COVID-19 infections.  

He observed that over 26 million people have been fully vaccinated, representing 23.4 per cent of the eligible population.
