Company reiterates commitment to bridging gap in aviation industry
An international aviation services company, Braniz & Lloyds, has reiterated its commitment to capacity building in the industry, noting that there are enormous opportunities for expansion in the industry.
The company’s CEO, Brienze Lawrence, stated that the company is poised to fill the skill gaps that exist in the industry with plans to train 5,000 aviation professionals within five years.
According to Lawrence, “A lot needs to happen within the aviation industry in Africa if we are to catch up with the rate of development in other parts of the world. Traveling across African countries remains prohibitively challenging, and these issues must be addressed by ensuring we build the right manpower to drive change.
“We are certain that if we galvanise stakeholders to start taking the right steps in training our people and forging the right partnerships, we should be able to move quickly.”
Lawrence added that the company is exploring partnerships with authorities in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea to drive the mandate of boosting skills development on the continent.
“We believe that when we get the right people to come to the table to discuss and drive change, we will see real change, especially in training young people sustainably to participate in the industry.”
Lawrence stated that the company has signed an agreement with the Cross River State Government to develop an aviation college in the state, aimed at solving the industry’s skill shortage.
“We are already in talks with the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace to ensure standardization of certification processes, introduce dual-location training with our European partners, and improve service delivery in the sector,” she added.
