COSEYL kicks against Kanu’s illegal detention

• Says failure to obey court order will cause mishaps, devastation

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, (COSEYL), yesterday, kicked against continued unlawful detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

COSEYL’s  President General, Goodluck Ibem, disclosed this to The Guardian, condemning the statement credited to the Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) over the continued detention of Kanu. He urged Federal Government to obey rule of law, as well as the order of the Federal Court of Appeal to unconditionally release Kanu from unlawful detention by the Department of State Services (DSS). 
 
Ibem said: “For the records, Ndigbo, Ohanaeze and other Igbo groups are only demanding that Federal Government should do the right and lawful thing by releasing Kanu as ordered by the court. Any opinion to the contrary urging Federal Government not to release Kanu is unconstitutional and unpatriotic. 
 
“Federal Government is duty-bound, by law, to obey the court’s Judgment in favour of the release of Kanu before appealing the matter at the Supreme Court. Anything short of that is an illegality.
 
“The same CNG, claiming to be patriotic, have never for once condemned heinous crimes, killings, rapes, and destructions committed by murderous Fulani terrorists and Jihadists parading as herdsmen, which is the third deadliest terror group in the world, according to the World Global Terror Index.
 
“Gross disrespect and disobedience to the rule of law has made Nigeria a laughing stock before comity of nations. Nigeria is now a failed state owing to its flagrant disrespect to the rule of law. 
 
“In just two months, from February to April, 2023, Fulani terrorists, parading as herdsmen, have killed over 1,000 Benue indigenes and CNG have not made any statement condemning the massacre, but are quick to speak on issues patterning to South East.”
