Council inducts 70 medical laboratory scientists at Igbinedion varsity

Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), yesterday, inducted 70 medical laboratory science graduates of Igbinedion University Okada, Edo State.

The Registrar of the council, Dr. Tosan Erhabor, administered the oath on the inductees during the university’s 13th oath-taking and induction ceremony held in Okada.

Erhabor, who was represented at the ceremony by Dr. Gregory Uchuno, a director in the council, enjoined the inductees to adhere to the ethics of the profession at all time

In his opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, said the critical role of medical laboratory science in the health care delivery system cannot be over-emphasized.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raphael Adeghe, Ezemonye said medical laboratory science was the backbone of all the complex procedures carried out on patients specimens in clinical laboratories.

“It is therefore pivotal to patient safety and the overall functionality of the health care system.

“Its operations require broad knowledge in biology, chemistry and microbiology and the training for its professional demand institutional support continuously.

“It is significant that the university for over two decades has maintained the path of dominance and prominence in the academic sphere, leading a visionary part to endless excellence,” he said.

Ezemonye noted that the university has all its courses accredited by the national university commission and other relevant professional bodies.
