Court grants APGA’s factional leader bail
• Predicts run-off in 2023 presidential election
A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting in Bwari, yesterday, granted the factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Edozie Njoku, bail on self-recognition.
Recall that on November 28, 2022, Justice M. A Madugu, at the FCT High Court 40, Bwari, denied Njoku, as well as the National Youth Leader of the party, Chukwuemeka Nwoga, bail and sent them to Suleja prison on allegation of forgery.
The duo were accused of forging the judgment of the Supreme Court to parade themselves as National Chairman and National Youth Leader, an allegation they denied.
Mr speaking shortly to journalists after granting bail, Njoku said a run-off in the 2023 presidential polls should not be ruled out among the frontline candidates.
He remarked that his position had been reinforced by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s decision to print additional ballot papers in anticipation of such eventuality.
The APGA chief, who called on party faithful to rally behind the party’s candidates vying for various elective positions across the country, expressed optimism that the presidential candidate of the party, Prof. Peter Umeadi, would put up a good performance in the polls.
