
The Covenant Capital, a social impact unit of The Covenant Nation, Abuja at the weekend held the second edition of its Abuja Career Fair, themed, ‘OPTIMIZE – Making the Most of Your Career Journey’.

Organisers of the Career Fair said their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 8) is to promote decent work and ultimately contribute to the sustainable economic growth and development of Nigeria.
“The Career Fair represents our responsibility to foster growth and prosperity in our community. Therefore, we encourage everyone, job seekers, employed professionals, and employers alike to take advantage of this remarkable opportunity.”
The fair which addressed issues of unemployment and employability hosted corps members, fresh graduates, mid-level executives, and senior executives, for their professional development, career advancement, and community, including access to invaluable professional development resources across the public and private sectors.

Speaking at the fair during a keynote address, Chizoba Mojekwu noted that work culture and model has shifted from the traditional way it was, urging the participants to be adapt to the new norm.
“In many places today, it is no longer what it used to be. Work has shifted and its no longer physical. And in this new norm, there are skill that are required. So, you must be updated,” Chizoba said.
She urged the participants to embrace the dynamics of remote working and technological tools like Chatgpt and Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can enhance their work.
Another keynote speaker Victor Banjo said talent is not enough to have a successful career except it is mixed with hard and smart work.

Citing athletes like Tiger Woods, David Beckham and other notable figures that have distinguished themselves in their fields, Banjo said those who stand out always brings something extra to the table.
He advised the participants to have a great work ethic, build and leverage relationships, network with people and ensure discipline in their various fields.
The career fair featured other key note speeches, panel discussions, career counselling sessions, speed interviews and exhibition of products.
