COVID-19 boosted innovation in library services

In his keynote address at the 2022 workshop/conference of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Niger State Chapter, in Minna, lauded the state chapter for consistency in organising the yearly conference.

According to him, this year’s conference, with the theme, ‘Exploring Innovative Library and Information Services in the Digital Age’ will go along way in providing unique opportunity for library and information service professionals to update their skills and upscale their knowledge for effective service.

He noted that the theme was timely and auspicious for librarians, as they begin to introduce Information Communications and Technology (ICT) in the delivery of library services.

In his message at the conference, the Vice Chancellor, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, Prof. Abu Adamu, described libraries as repositories of invaluable information, and that with the improvements in technology in information management.

Represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Hassan Ibrahim, the VC said “libraries have shifted from their old traditional forms to a more robust and efficient mode of information generation, storage, retrieval and transfer.
