COLLABORATION between committees of the Legislative Houses and the ICPC has been advocated as a critical and needed partnership in the fight against corruption.

CorruptionCOLLABORATION between committees of the Legislative Houses and the ICPC has been advocated as a critical and needed partnership in the fight against corruption.

The Director General NILS, Dr Ladi Hamalai gave this advice while receiving the Provost of the Anti Corruption Academy of Nigeria, Prof. Akinrinade Shola in her office yesterday.

The Anti Corruption Academy is a training arm of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, charged with the responsibility to build capacity of public servants through value re-orientation, in the fight against corruption.

Dr Hamalai, while commending the ICPC for such noble initiative, noted that the fight against corruption can only be effectively won, when all institutions and agencies show sincere commitment to the fight. While urging the ICPC to work closely with legislative committees, she pledged the willingness of the National Institute for Legislative Studies (NILS) to partner with the commission.

The D.G expressed optimism that the institutional mechanisms of the committees, through investigative hearings and oversight, would provide key platforms that would enable the fight against corruption to succeed.
