The crisis rocking Ubulu-Uku kingdom has taken another dimension following the alleged suspension of Onishe (kingmaker) of Ubulu-Uku kingdom.
The Guardian gathered that the suspension letter currently circulating on social media is creating panic in the community.
It was learnt that a counter suspension letter, allegedly signed by the traditional ruler, HRM Obi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze, denied the suspension of the paramount Chief.
The counter-suspension letter was made available to newsmen in Asaba, denying the alleged suspension.
It reads, “On behalf of His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze I, Obi of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, and the entire Umu Obi, we wish to state categorically that we are not aware of the letter currently being circulated regarding the alleged suspension of the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku.
“We firmly and completely disassociate ourselves from the said letter, its contents, and any implications arising from it. At no time did His Royal Majesty or the UMU OBI authorise, endorse, or sanction the drafting or publication of such a letter.
“The good people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom and the general public are hereby strongly advised to disregard the said letter of suspension in its entirety, as it does not represent the position of His Royal Majesty.”
The statement noted that it is necessary to set the records straight and protect the integrity of the throne from any misrepresentation.
In his reaction, the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku kingdom, Chief Asika Onwordi James, lamented the purported suspension letter circulating on social media and urged the community to disregard the letter.
He said, “What is the issue? They wanted me to be answerable to them; they want me to be taking instructions from them, and I said to them no.
“My king is a young king who needs much assistance in terms of the traditions of my place. I decided to help him, and I am doing everything to support him, but his uncles are the ones fighting me.
“I have done much for the community. I set up a security outfit to tackle the herdsmen that have been causing trouble in our bushes, supporting security agencies to fight crime. So, I don’t know where I have gone wrong.
“I felt bad when I saw the suspension letter circulating on social media. The letter was delivered to me, but it was on social media.”
Also speaking, the Palace Secretary, Mr. George Ofulue, who signed the suspension letter, said that the counter-suspension letter was forged by faceless people.
“The Onishe of Ubulu-Uku remains suspended over insubordination. The other letter that’s circulating is forged by faceless people.
“That letter was written yesterday (Monday); the Obi signature was forged. The people are faceless; otherwise, we would have charged them for forgery.”
