Oborevwori inaugurates 18km road projects

Since assuming office in May 2023, the administration of Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has continued to demonstrate commitment to infrastructural renewal through massive road construction and rehabilitation projects amounting to over 608km across the three senatorial districts of the state.

The state government explained that this includes 206.6km of new roads, 102.55km of rehabilitated roads, 155km of dual carriageways, 112.29km of network of roads, and 32.1km of security and institutional roads.

The Commissioner for Works, Pius Ankpor, who disclosed this in a chat with The Guardian in Calabar, attributed the achievements over the past three years to prudent financial management, accountability, and a deliberate commitment to restoring the dignity and welfare of the people.

Also, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, yesterday, inaugurated three road projects with a combined length of about 18 kilometres in Ndokwa West Local Council Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, reiterating his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

The projects inaugurated include the 4.5-kilometre Obi-Ibabu/Ibabu Road in Onicha-Ukwuani, phase one of the 5-kilometre Utagba-Uno/Ndemili Road, and the 8.4-kilometre Etua-Ukpo/Etua-Etiti/Etua-Oliogo Road.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at Utagba-Uno, Oborevwori expressed appreciation to the host communities, traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and residents for their warm reception despite the rainfall.

He described the roads as critical infrastructure that would boost trade, commerce and rural development across the Ndokwa Nation.

“Today marks another milestone in our commitment to bringing meaningful development to the doorsteps of our people. The roads we are commissioning are critical to trade, commerce and our rural renewal programme,” the governor stated.
