Customs Command generates N309m revenue in 4 months
Alhaji Ishaku Ahmed, Area Comptroller of the Nigeria Custom Service for Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, said that nearly N309 million was raised as internally generated revenue from January to April.
Ahmed told newsmen in Sokoto on Wednesday that already proactive measures had been adopted to meet the target revenue of N117 billion for 2015 as instructed from the headquarters.
Ahmed said that officers manning the border post had been directed to block all forms of smuggling businesses, to ensure proper collection of revenues.
He explained that competent and dedicated officers had been deployed to manage all the identified `smugglers routes’.
Ahmed solicited the support of traditional rulers in the border communities to assist officers posted in the area with relevant information about the movement of smugglers.
He said that officers and men of the command were ready to prevent all forms of smuggling businesses.
Ahmed called on officer of the command to continue to put in their best and promised to reward hard work.
