Delta Airlines cancels additional 90 flights
• Lagos passengers get relief
Effects of Monday’s system shutdown at Delta Airlines continued yesterday morning, as about 90 flights were again cancelled.
The airline said though outlook for yesterday’s operations looked positive for flight schedule, the cancelled flights were spillovers of the general disruption of services since Monday.
Meanwhile, over 300 U.S.-bound Nigerian passengers on Tuesday night heaved a sigh of relief, as their scheduled flight operation glided through without delay.
The Guardian learnt that Delta passenger that left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, disappointedly, Monday night, were excited to see a Delta flight arrive in the afternoon, ahead evening take-off.
It would be recalled that Delta cancelled about 775 flights on Tuesday, as the airline worked to establish normal operations after Monday’s outage that disrupted flight schedule.
Delta officials, yesterday, assured that normal operations would be restored quickly.
Senior Vice President, Operations and Customer Centre, Dave Holtz, said the airline continued on Wednesday to steadily recover from Monday’s events.
“We will have a small number of cancellations in the morning, as our operation restarts. So, we continue to ask our customers to check their travel plans and flight status. We apologise to everyone who has been affected by these events, and we thank them for their patience.”
