The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Aina Adesola, has stressed the need for stronger collaboration between the police and the judiciary to improve the administration of justice and strengthen public confidence in the legal system.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement in Delta State, the police commissioner noted that effective cooperation between law enforcement agencies and judicial institutions remains essential in ensuring timely prosecution of criminal cases and maintaining law and order across the state.
He explained that a closer working relationship between investigators, prosecutors, and judicial officers would help reduce delays in criminal proceedings and enhance the fight against crime.
According to him, synergy among justice sector stakeholders is necessary to ensure that offenders are properly prosecuted while innocent citizens are protected under the law.
Nigeria Police Force also reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and rights-based policing in line with ongoing reforms within the security sector.
The CP urged officers to uphold ethical standards while carrying out their duties and called for sustained support from judicial authorities and other relevant institutions.
The police boss further highlighted the importance of intelligence sharing, due process, and mutual respect among institutions responsible for security and justice administration. He said stronger institutional cooperation would contribute significantly to crime prevention, public safety, and social stability in Delta State.
Security analysts believe improved collaboration between the police and judiciary could help address concerns surrounding delayed trials, weak prosecution processes, and public distrust in Nigeria’s justice system.
Similar calls for inter-agency cooperation have been made in recent months by security leaders across the country.
