Delta State lawmakers yesterday in Asaba ratified the three month suspension placed on the Executive Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Council, Mrs. Nkechi Chukwurah by the Councillors.

For allegedly refusing to render the income and expenditure of the Local Government resources since she was sworn in November 2014, the legislative arm of the council, had on March 4 recommended the suspension Mrs. Nkechi Chukwura to the State House of Assembly.

Coming on the heels of the recent suspension of the Chairman of Uvwie Local Council, Mr. Henry Baro, the Leader of the legislative arm, Mr. Matthew Uzoka had explained that 11 out of the 15 Councillors who supported the move had since sent a copy of the resolution of their sitting of March 4 wherein the council Chairman was suspended to the ‎State House of Assembly for ratification.

The motion for the suspension was moved by the chairman House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy matters Mr. Azuka Azaka and seconded by the minority leader and member representing Ika South
Mr. Festus Okoh.

Azaka said the suspension order became imperative to enable the committee investigate an impeachment notice against the executive chairman sent to the house by some councilors.

Mrs. Chukwurah said she had left everything in the hands of God adding that “I don’t know what to do, as a woman I have done my best.

However she expressed shock that after the committee heard from her and the councilors on Wednesday she was suspended yesterday.

Already the acting chairman Okonta has allegedly setup a ten man advisory committee to enable the council move forward.
