Delta State Police Command, yesterday, dismissed Inspector Ubi Ebri from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), for allegedly killing 30-year-old Ibe Emmanuel Onyeka, who refused to give a bribe of N100.00 at a checkpoint around Ugbolu area, near Asaba, Delta State capital.

The Command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bright Edafe, who confirmed Ebri’s dismissal, said he would be charged to court today (Wednesday) for proper prosecution.

The Guardian had reported that the dismissed inspector, formerly attached to Area Command, Asaba shot dead the late Onyeka, a phone dealer at the popular Ogbogonogo Market, after the heated argument over a N100 bribe.

The youths, apparently piqued by the barbaric killing of the Imo-born businessman, carried his dead body on a wheelbarrow from the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, to the Police headquarters, about two kilometres and dumped the corpse at the entrance of the building, calling on the police authorities to prosecute the case.
