Delta To Commission All Road Projects Before May 29
DELTA State Government yesterday in Asaba reiterated the determination of the administration to ensure the total completion of the various ongoing road projects in the state before the May 29 handover date.
The Commissioner for Special Duties, Directorate of Project Monitoring, Mr. David Anuku, told reporters shortly after the inspection of the dualisation of the Asaba-Ughelli Road Project that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan will soon commission Section C of the road which runs from Ndokwa to Isoko.
Anuku said that over 270 township roads awarded by the state government was at various stages of completion and that the contractors handling the projects have been directed to make them ready for commissioning before May 29.
The Commissioner remarked that the Directorate has intensified the monitoring of the various ongoing projects across the state to ensure quality and quick execution of the projects.
He directed that the u-turn section in some of the roads should be increased to 25 metres to allow easy passage of the roads by long lorries, embark on vegetation control of the roads and make sure the water are channeled appropriately to save the contractor and government from future troubles of water control.
Anuku promised that a good number of the road projects would be commissioned in few weeks time just as he maintained that the state government was doing its best to keep its own part of the contractual agreement.
He said: “The government has always strived to ensure that funding do not stall its projects. The contractors should be commended for partnering with the state government to bring needed development to the state and its people.”
He disclosed that most of the school infrastructure projects scattered across the state have been slated for commissioning, stressing the need for the contractors to ensure all finishing touches on them.
