Driven by innovation, Idris Abass is proving that design can be a tool not just for profit, but for purpose. A Human-Centred Product and UX Designer with over six years of experience, Abass has played pivotal roles in media, fintech, SaaS, and b2b products across global markets. His design contributions have helped secure investor funding, increase customer engagement, and scale digital platforms used by thousands.
Abass’ design philosophy goes beyond pixels and interfaces. In July 2021, he led a UX Bootcamp for beginners, mentoring aspiring designers many from underrepresented backgrounds through hands-on training in user research, prototyping, and usability testing. “One of the most memorable moments,” he shared, “was getting a message from an ambitious mentee who landed her first role in tech using the case study we worked on together.”
From simplifying financial systems at Union Bank to building data powered platforms that enhance real estate decision making at Estate Intel, Abass has proven that UX, when done right, drives both business and human outcomes. But his work doesn’t stop at the corporate level. Through pro bono projects like the COVID-19 tracker and the Buzz community app, Abass continues to give back, designing solutions that serve social good.
Looking forward, he plans to expand his impact through more bootcamps, workshops, and a long-term vision to build a platform that connects emerging designers with organisations that value growth and mentorship. “Real change,” he says, “comes when we put people first in our designs and in our communities.”
