• ABUAD inducts doctors as Afe Babalola tasks inductees on proper conduct

A Professor of Medicine and Consultant Cardiologist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital (UJTH), Prof. Basil Okeahialam, has described physical assaults on doctors at workplaces as a medical crisis and an epidemic that must stop.

Okeahialam, who spoke yesterday during the eighth induction ceremony of ABUAD medical doctors in Ado-Ekiti, said that patients and their relatives who assault doctors or other health workers should know that medicine is a science of uncertainty and an act of probability.

He, however, counselled the new doctors to always be pragmatic, as well as show compassion and empathy.

In her welcome address, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of ABUAD said that the event was undeniably historic because 26 of the inductees collectively earned 64 distinctions.

However, in his words of encouragement, the Founder and Chancellor of ABUAD, Aare Afe Babalola, urged the newly inducted doctors to be good ambassadors of the university.

He urged them to remember their oath and avoid issues that could destroy their careers, saying that they must have empathy and be caring to their patients.
