Don’t crucify Udom, he was misled, says Akpan
The senator representing Akwa Ibom North-East and a governorship aspirant, Albert Akpan, has called on his supporters and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to have faith that the will of God will be done in the 2023 gubernatorial race.
He made the call, yesterday, when he consulted stakeholders of Itu council to inform them that his governorship aspiration was still intact, despite the fact that the governor has endorsed another aspirant, Pastor Umo Eno, to succeed him.
Akpan described Governor Emmanuel Udom as a good man that should be pitied, rather than vilified, because some selfish persons unfortunately misled him.
He urged the people not to feel discouraged that the governor did not pick his preferred successor from Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency, but to remain steadfast in faith as God has the final say.
“Honestly speaking, I believe that governorship position of Akwa Ibom come 2023 is there for us to take. Akwa Ibom people stand for equity, justice and fairness. Etinan and Uyo federal constituencies have had their turns.
“I can assure you that God will give the next governor to Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency. I believe that the same God that blesses the work of our hands will bless us this time around. All we need to do is to pray for the will of God to be done.
“My charge to all of you is that we shall remain steadfast and peaceful. We will not allow anybody to intimidate us. I want to assure everybody that power belongs to God. That same God will fight for us,” he said.
