A New political movement, known as Friends of KSM (Kashim Shettima Mustapha), has urged Nigerians not to miss the opportunity for effective leadership and good governance represented by the Tinubu/Shettima presidential ticket.

The group noted that the combination of the former Lagos and Borno states’ governors, Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, as All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential standard-bearers conforms with Nigerians’ desire for experienced, dynamic and inspirational leadership.

Addressing its inaugural world press conference, Friends of KSM, through its National Coordinator, Waziri Bulama, declared that the 2023 general election should deliver a detribalised political leader, who is a unifier and bridge builder.

Members of the group expressed their conviction that a diverse and complex country like Nigeria needs a “liberal and fair-minded vice president that will complement the nation-building and national integration efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Describing the former Borno governor as the ideal vice presidential material, Bulama disclosed that Shettima has friends and political associates across the country and appointed non-indigenes and competent people of different faiths into top government positions in Borno.

“This is why well-meaning and patriotic Nigerians should support the Tinubu-Shettima presidential ticket in next year’s election. KSM’s enviable track record of infrastructural transformation, administrative sagacity, visionary and dynamic leadership is outstanding.”

“His astute management of lean resources of Borno during his eight years stewardship as governor advertises and signposts the ability of their ticket to fix the economy and restore Nigeria to the path of prosperity. Tinubu and Shettima have done it before in Lagos and Borno, and they will replicate the delivery of the dividends of democracy nationwide if given the mandate,” he stated.

Friends of KSM further disclosed that as Borno governor, Shettima administered a state challenged by insecurity, delivering massive social and physical infrastructure.

They asserted: “Since economic management responsibility is often assigned to the vice president, KSM, as consummate banker, conveniently fits the bill and complements Tinubu, who is a chartered accountant and astute manager of human and material resources.”
