Don’t Politicise HID’s Death, Fayose Urges
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose was among eminent personalities who called at the late Madam Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo’s Ikenne, Ogun State country home to condole with the family yesterday.
The Governor in his remark urged fellow politicians to desist from “playing politics” with the deceased death.
He stated that instead of mourning, the deceased and her late husband, Chief Obafemi Awolowo should be celebrated because apart from living well, “they also left unforgettable legacies for us and our children’s children, and remain our idols”.
Explaining why the death of Mrs. Awolowo and her late husband should not be politicised, Fayose said all he was trying to say was that the visits should not be a one-off, where politicians would come around and celebrate but leave and never return.
“They only make politics out of this kind of life; that is not the spirit”. The spirit is to stay with this family and keep Baba’s (Awolowo) legacy within Ikenne and beyond Ikenne and in Nigeria. He wants us to be together, he wants us to do things right and he wants us as a Yoruba nation to remain united.”
