The Nigeria Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Council (NENYLC) has urged the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to fulfill his campaign promise by sticking to the 45 per cent youth affirmative action plan and inclusion when sworn in on May 29, 2023.

NENYLC President General, Comrade Terry Obieh, who made this demand at a world press conference in Abuja, reminded the President-elect that Nigerian youths played huge roles towards his success in the 2023 general election.

According to Obieh, youths came out en masse to vote, hence the need for reciprocity and appreciation of their efforts. He warned against the formation of an interim national government, saying the move would throw the country into confusion. He noted that the calls for an interim government were coming from disgruntled agents who are hell bent to cause monumental havoc in the country.

Obieh called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the Council of State to ensure a smooth transition on May 29. His words: “We are aghast to see how some primordial sentiments and dwarfism thoughts are being peddled by some disgruntled agent provocateurs hell bent to cause monumental havocs and war by calling for Interim National Government whereas there is no iota of legitimate constitutional reason to allow for such ill-motivated deceitful actions.

“The 2023 presidential elections is believed and adjudged as the most credible, free and fair election as conspicuously witnessed by all Nigerians, with attendant congratulatory felicitations from various leading nations of the world – US, UK, France, China, Germany to mention a few.

“We sound as a note of caution to some used local and misinformed foreign observers to tread cautiously as their tainted reports are nothing but a total misrepresentation and deceit. For clarity, Nigerians have spoken through the ballots; any attempt to cause premeditated attrition will be resisted by all Nigerians.

“When a country experiences an increased GDP that does not reflect on the lives of the common people, when you ask them they will tell you that it is a scam. This goes the same with the position of some foreign and local observers that the election was not credible.

“Therefore, it is evident that the votes of Nigerians counted considering the upset in the traditional political map of the country, wherein in some states an incumbent government lost due to the popular will of the people.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won and was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Our resolve in the promotion of peace, unity and progress of Nigeria remains undeterred and sacrosanct, hence the urgent need to condemn the purveyors of this evil machinations to order.

“We therefore use this medium to reiterate our maximum support, congratulate and assure the President-elect of our unalloyed support while using this medium to appeal to all Nigerians to remain calm and resolute in the task of rebuilding a sustainable new Nigeria.

“Posterity shall indeed take into records anyone involved in the orchestrated ploy inevitably aimed at erupting war rather than peace.

“We are confident that a Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC government will deliver on its promises of good governance, restructuring, education, power, agricultural revolution, security of lives and properties, economic stability, growth and development of Nigeria.

“We implore President Buhari to ensure smooth transition and swearing-in on May 29, 2023, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
