The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Christopher Hassan, has advised the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Oliver Agundu, not to behave like Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), which banned a registered political party from contesting a local council election.

By that singular action of the state government, Hassan lamented, all PDP supporters were disenfranchised by the powers-that-be in the state.

Addressing journalists at the PDP Secretariat in Jos, yesterday, to herald the inauguration of the PDP National Campaign Council. The presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and other dignitaries, will grace the inauguration slated for December 13, 2022.

The PDP boss is confident that with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in place, the 2023 election is going to be without evil machination.

Hassan said: “The party was at a time plunged into induced crises after aggrieved members, sponsorship by the All Progressives Congress (APC), infiltrated the party, seeking the soul of the party using various means, including media war and court, in the bid to destroy it.”

“But to God be the glory, a sigh of relief was brought into the party when the final case was dismissed at the Jos Federal High Court. All legal impediments were removed, clearing the course for the party to face electorate. The party is facing 2023 election on a clean slate, and we shall come out victorious.”

According to him, it is instructive to state clearly that no party faithful challenged the repeat state congress held on September 25, 2021, in the court.

He said: “The appeal by the party before the Supreme Court is simpliciter on exclusion of the party in the last local council election. Following this encouraging judgment and the confirmation of the party’s legitimacy as the executive of the party, we will continue to work with great understanding and commitment to ensure that we return PDP to government house. We are working together assiduously to achieve that

“We, therefore, call on Plateau citizens to remain steadfast and committed in their support for the success of the party, as victory is near. Let us all unite and save Plateau from total collapse, as APC has nothing to offer.”
