DUCHESS Productions, in association with Sweet Potato Films and B-Rated Productions, has announced the premiere of tHERapy, a compelling one-woman play, as part of the J. Randle Residency programme.

The initiative supports young and emerging creatives in Lagos State, providing a platform for their artistic expression.

“We are incredibly proud to present ‘tHERapy’ as part of the J. Randle Residency’s celebration of International Women’s Month. We have been hard at work to create something truly special and we hope that the audience enjoys and appreciates it,” said Oladotun Olagbadebo, actor and writer.

tHERapy delves into the intricate and often challenging realities of womanhood in Nigeria. Through a series of poignant monologues, the play explores a spectrum of experiences, from the societal pressures surrounding childbirth and complex family dynamics to the deeply personal trauma of sexual assault and the nuances of intimate relationships. The protagonist navigates a landscape rife with societal expectations, personal betrayals, and the pervasive double standards and injustices women face.

tHERapy is a story of resilience and empowerment. The play culminates in a powerful declaration of self-acceptance and liberation, as the protagonist rejects the constraints of societal pressures and embraces her autonomy.

This production is made up of an all-female ensemble (cast and crew included). Written and produced by Oladotun Olagbadebo, directed by Tosin Adeyemi, co-produced by Imoh Eboh and stage-managed by Joy Nmezi, “tHERapy” promises to be a moving and thought-provoking theatrical experience.

While announcing that admission is free, Duchess Productions emphsised that persons, intending to attend the show, must register online.
Billed to commence 6 p.m. on March 15 at J. Randle Center for Yoruba Culture, Onikan, Lagos State, the show has Pulse NG as an official media partner.
