Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have decried electoral irregularities and called for cancellation of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, saying the results did not reflect wishes of the masses.

According to the Chairman of APC in Ebonyi, Stanley Emegha, based on certain irregularities, which were allegedly executed by members of opposition parties and bad eggs among Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff, the state working committee of his party raised the alarm demanding the cancellation of results of Saturday’s polls in four councils, including Afikpo North, Ezza North, Ivo and Onicha.

While commending INEC in its effort to ensure free, fair and credible elections in Ebonyi, Emegha, however, accused bad elements in the Commission of conniving with members of opposition parties to manipulate results of Saturday’s polls in the state.

The state APC boss also accused security personnel of compromising their duties by allegedly conniving with opposition parties to perpetrate electoral irregularities during the polls in some polling stations.

Also the Senator representing Ebonyi North in the National Assembly and PDP candidate in Saturday’s election, Dr. Sam Egwu, and other party candidates, had stormed the INEC headquarters in Abakaliki to register their grievances over the non-usage of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in the conduct of the polls.

The Labour Party candidate for Ebonyi South Senatorial zone, Linus Okorie, PDP candidates for Ebonyi South and Central Senatorial zones, Ama Nnachi and Laz Ogbee, accompanied Egwu on the visit.

Interacting with journalists, Egwu described the results declared by INEC in the state as a charade, since the use of the BVAS machine was not applicable in many polling units.

He added: “We call on INEC to cancel whatever results and verify them with what is in the BVAS. The Electoral Act stipulates that voting must be done by use of BVAS; many polling booths in the state did not use the BVAS.”
