EC-Council appoints Dr Fene Osakwe as global advisory board member

EC-Council (International Council of E-Commerce Consultants) is the world’s largest certification body for information security professionals. As a member-based organization, the EC-Council certifies individuals in various information security and e-business skills.

The EC-Council Global Advisory Board comprises individuals recognized by the EC-Council and the broader community as key leaders in the field of information security. Board members are meticulously selected from academia and industry around the globe.

These individuals are invited to join the Advisory Board based on their credibility and contributions to the information security community, serving as independent voices for the industry.

Dr. Fene Osakwe has recently been invited to join the Global Advisory Board for Penetration Testing. He gained international recognition in 2022 when he became one of the youngest individuals invited to the prestigious Forbes Council. Dr. Osakwe mentors graduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students at four universities across the United Kingdom, Nigeria, the United States, and Canada. His keynote speeches and conference presentations at some of the biggest cybersecurity events worldwide have been widely reported as insightful and highly educational by attendees and the press.

Notably, his articles and thought leadership on cybersecurity have provided valuable insights to the security industry locally and internationally. One such article on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity was published by Forbes and was referenced at the 34th Annual Model United Nations Conference on October 27, 2023, as a “good article on the effects of AI on cybersecurity.”
Dr. Osakwe has received numerous global awards. The New York City Journal listed him as one of the top 20 coaches to watch in 2023, and CIOLOOK recognized him in March 2023 as one of the top global cyber leaders under 40.

Additionally, he was honoured as the Cyber Youth Mentor of the Year in 2022 in Dubai, received the Exceptional Leadership Award at Internet 2.0 in Dubai, and won a global book award for his Amazon best-selling book in August 2023. He was also named one of the top 100 inspiring personalities of 2022, among many other accolades.

Currently, Dr. Fene Osakwe serves as the Chairman of the Lagos State Cybersecurity Council, providing oversight on cybersecurity to the Lagos State Government.
