Police detain Muslim retail traders on December 17, 2017 in Libreville, following a knife attack on two Danish nationals.
Two Danish nationals were wounded December 16 in a knife attack in Gabon’s capital apparently committed in retribution for “US attacks against Muslims”, a rare assault in a Central African nation that has escaped Islamist violence. The two men, who were working for the National Geographic channel, were stabbed while shopping in a market popular with tourists, said defence minister Etienne Massard, adding that the attack appeared to be politically motivated. / AFP PHOTO / Steve JORDAN

Six suspected political thugs with firearms were arrested on Friday night at Oredo Ward 3 by members of the community.

It was gathered that the six boys were brought into the community in a black sienna bus at about 8:00 pm

The community members who spotted them had raised an alarm, leading to their arrest by soldiers deployed in the area.

They were said to have been brought into the community by one of the political parties in the election

A Community member, Blessing Ozzie, who narrated the incident said their mission was to cause havoc, adding that “the community Vigilant raised an alert that attracted soldiers leaving to their arrest”.
