Oshiomhole-kk-A MEMBER representing Esan North and South Federal Constituency of Edo State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sergius Oseasochie Oguns, has called on youths to show interest in agriculture, which could be rewarding than the white-collar jobs.

The lawmaker, who spoke with journalists in Lagos, urged government at all levels to encourage youths to take up modern farming methods to create employment and diversify the economy.

Oguns, who promised he would help youths in his constituency with land and necessary input so that many of them would be employed, said: “Confectionary industries spend about $2 billion yearly to import glucose syrup, a product that can be got from cassava.

“If we had paid attention enough earlier, we would have been eating bread baked with cassava flour grown in our local farms and the billions of dollars spent in importing wheat flour would have been saved and spent on other essential things.

“I will help youths get land and other input such as tractors for them.”
