The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on losers of last Saturday’s local council elections to join hands with the party and Governor Monday Okpebholo for the development and growth of the state.
The State Chairman of the party, Jarret Tenebe, made the call in Benin yesterday while briefing journalists on the outcome of the local council elections held on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
The Guardian reports that the APC was declared the winner of all 18 chairmanship positions and 192 councillorship positions by the Chairman of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), Jonathan Aifuobhokhan.
Speaking further on the outcome of the polls, Tenebe said: “The historic victory was yet another confirmation that the people of Edo State believe in the leadership and vision of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpebholo.”
“It also reinforces our conviction that the commitment we made to deliver 2.5 million votes to Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential Election is not only achievable but firmly within our reach,” he added.
Tenebe, who disclosed that the APC secured a total of 2,158,600 votes in the local council elections contested by 12 other political parties, encouraged those who did not emerge victorious to join hands with the state government to develop the state.
Earlier, the 18 local council chairmen declared that the winners had been presented with certificates of return by the EDSIEC.
