Education shouldn’t be business, says proprietress of best school
The Proprietress, Mummy’s Place International Nursery and Primary School, Akure, Ondo State, Dr. Damilola Oshin, has said education should be service and charity-oriented rather than a business venture.
Oshin said this, yesterday, when the management, students, Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) of the school welcomed her with pomp over the 2022 President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Award (PTSEA).
The award was organised by the Federal Ministry of Education to commemorate the World Teachers’ Day in Abuja.
She got back to Akure after receiving the ‘Overall Winner-Best Private School in Nigeria’ won by the school, which came with a new 15-seater Coaster bus.
The members of staff and students, alongside parents, gathered in the school to celebrate the educational milestone recorded by the school with the proprietress.
In a chat with newsmen, the proprietress recounted how God gave her the inspiration to start a school from her private home 20 years ago with two pupils, revealing that the two pioneer pupils graduated from the university last year.
According to her, education should be more of passion to add value and serve the society rather than the general trend to make it a business venture.
