IN a bid to effectively prosecute its anti-corruption crusade, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is putting finishing touches to recruiting additional 750 workers of various cadres before the end of the year.

Also, the anti-graft agency wants to procure more operational vehicles as well as make monies available to its staffers to travel abroad to partake in training sessions and series of investigative duties as part of efforts to bring to book those that indulge in corrupt activities.

EFCC’s acting executive chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Mustapha Magu made this known yesterday when he appeared before members of the Kayode Oladele-led House of Representatives Committee on financial crimes to defend his outfit’s budget proposals for 2016.

EFCC’s 2016 budget proposal from the Budget and Finance Planning Ministry indicates the sum of N6.664, 040,791.00 was voted for personnel, N1, 389,429,463.00 for overhead and a capital allocation of N3, 168,744,217.00.

Magu, who expressed concern over the level of depreciation of EFCC’s operational vehicles, appealed to the lawmakers to approve N220, 600,000 million for the procurement of additional vehicles as proposed by the budget and planning ministry.

Earlier on, Oladele noted that in spite the paucity of funds, there was need to place priority on the immediate needs of the EFCC in view of the resolve by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to tackle corrupt practices in the polity.
