EFCC quizzes Enugu ex-governor, Chime over N450m campaign funds
The probe of beneficiaries of the $115 million presidential campaign funds allegedly disbursed by former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke yesterday was extended to former Enugu State governor, Sullivan Chime, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was questioned over the N450 million disbursed through the Fidelity Bank on the instruction of the former petroleum minister.Chime, according to sources in Abuja, reported at the Enugu zonal office of the commission in response to an invitation to explain his role in the disbursement of the funds.
The former governor was said to have denied involvement in the disbursement of the said amount as claimed by a former secretary to the campaign office and one of his former commissioners.
He said the money was brought by two of his former commissioners, a former secretary of the campaign office, an ex-chairman of the party in the state, among others.
Chime is expected to report back at the commission’s office on Monday, June 13 for further interrogation as the EFCC continues investigation, the source added.
