gabriel-suswam5Former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, and serving Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Paul Orhii, were among persons interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday. They both answered questions on allegations of fraud and corruption.

While Orhii was reporting to the EFCC as part of routine invitation to make clarification in an investigation which commenced since August, Suswam was a first time comer. He was at the headquarters of the agency since 10am and was yet to leave as at the time of writing this report. A source at the EFCC informed that the former governor is being interrogated by the Economic Governance Unit of EFCC.

A former commissioner of finance in Benue State, Omadachi Oklobia, who served under Suswam, was quizzed last Friday on allegations of fraud, embezzlement and abuse of office for which Suswam is also being interrogated.

Spokesman to the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Suswam reported to the EFCC yesterday morning but did not reveal the amount of money involved in the allegation. Oklobia answered questions on alleged complicity in diversion of funds of the state by former government officials.

Orhii, who left the EFCC office at about 2pm, confirmed to journalists in a short interview that he was at the agency’s office to make clarifications on some issues as investigation progresses.
