As part of its commitment to further advance technology in Nigeria and strengthen the power sector, an electricity generating company (GenCo), Egbin Power Plc., has launched an internship programme tagged “Egbin PowerUp.”

The six-month immersive internship programme was designed to deepen students’ understanding of the industry, while fostering innovation and excellence.

According to the firm, the initiative will provide students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria with the opportunity to gain hands-on technical experience while working alongside seasoned professionals at the firm’s power plant.

The firm said that the Egbin PowerUp would equip the students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enhance their skills, and build their confidence, among others.

It stressed that through real-world projects, students apply academic concepts in a professional setting, gaining invaluable experience.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour, emphasised that by providing practical training and equipping young people with pragmatic problem-solving skills, they are empowered and prepared for the future, thereby enabling them to make a meaningful impact on the society.

The GenCo, while emphasising that the internship programme attracts students from different fields of study, including Engineering, Applied Industrial Science, Information Technology (IT) and Environment & Safety, among others, reiterated its commitment in investing and empowering young minds and driving the growth of the power sector by contributing to the country’s progress and prosperity by bringing energy to life.
