Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), has called on road users to be God-fearing and obey all traffic laws while driving during the Ed-el-Kabir holidays.

Boboye-OyeyemiMr Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), has called on road users to be God-fearing and obey all traffic laws while driving during the Ed-el-Kabir holidays.

Oyeyemi made this call on Wednesday in his Ed-el-Kabir message which was signed by his Media Assistant, Mr Sani Abdullahi.

“Eid el-Kabir teaches us how to show obedience to God in all that we do as human beings because the celebration centres on devotion and obedience to the will of God.

“Prophet Ibrahim exemplified these virtues through his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail, to God in fulfilment of his promise to Him.

“As Muslim Ummah observes the feast, let everyone celebrate with the spirit of obedience to God and recognise the sanctity of human lives by obeying all traffic rules and regulations.

“They should also avoid any act capable of undermining safety of other road users,’’ he said.

Oyeyemi further urged motorists to avoid overloading, speed violation, dangerous driving and making phone calls while driving, saying it is only the living that can celebrate.

He called on Nigerians to assist the commission and other agencies to manage the traffic, by conducting themselves in safe and orderly manner.

The FRSC boss said the agency’s patrol and rescue teams have been put on alert to assist road travellers during the festival.

Oyeyemi appealed to members of the public to immediately notify FRSC of any emergency through its emergency line: 0700-CALL-FRSC (0700-22553772) or Toll-free line: 122 for prompt response.

The Corps Marshal wished all Nigerians happy motoring and safe Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
