Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has rejoiced with Muslims across the country, especially in the state, on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The governor, in his Sallah message, congratulated Muslims in Lagos State and advised them to continue on the path of spirituality and peaceful co-existence.
He also urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to imbibe the lessons of sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim and work for the peace, unity, and progress of the nation.
Sanwo-Olu said Eid al-Adha became a symbolic event in the history of mankind, given the bountiful rewards that followed the patience and perseverance of Prophet Ibrahim, who held on tenaciously to his faith in God despite being afflicted.
He said: “On behalf of my family and Lagos State government, I join millions of people around the world to wish our Muslim brothers and sisters in Lagos State and in Nigeria happy Eid-el-Kabir, which comes with significant lessons for mankind.
“This symbolic Islamic festival is a reminder to us that there will always be great rewards when we have abiding faith and patience in trying periods, with persistence in prayers, and tenacity in our belief.
“It also reminds us of the sacrifice we are expected to make not only for spiritual fulfilment but also for the progress of mankind and the development of our society.
“I want to appeal to all Lagos residents and Nigerians to draw lessons from Prophet Ibrahim’s examples by eschewing tendencies that could sever the unity and stability in the country.”
Sanwo-Olu also advised Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s administration in building a nation that would work for all.
He said the need to keep Nigeria on the path of development must be a collective responsibility of all citizens.
Similarly, Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has felicitated the Muslim Ummah in the state and across the country on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Adha.
He congratulated the Muslim faithful on witnessing the all-important festival known as the Festival of Sacrifice, praying to God to preserve their lives to witness more in good health and abiding wealth.
The governor urged the Muslim Ummah in Oyo State to pray more for the state, Nigeria and the leaders.
He equally rallied them to pray for the government as it continues the effort to rescue the abducted Oriire teachers and pupils.
Makinde, however, charged all residents of the state to be vigilant during and after the Sallah festival, stating that it has become quite important for everyone to be more security-conscious than ever before as the country battles banditry and kidnapping.
He reassured that his administration would continue to serve the interests of the people and remain on the trajectory of securing the state and its people while moving them into greater economic prosperity.
In the same vein, Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, has called on Muslims to pray for peace, security, and lasting tranquillity in the state and across the country.
Radda made the call in a statement by his Spokesperson, Ibrahim Mohammed, as part of his heartfelt festival greetings to Muslims in the state, across Nigeria, and around the globe.
According to the statement, Radda described the festival as a timeless reminder of the virtues of faith, obedience, and selfless sacrifice.
